For over fifteen years, the Teddy’s Star Foundation has made it possible for people with severe disabilities not only to expand their own lives, but also to contribute to the development of the lives of us all via the benefits of Assistive Technology.

Our Mission:

“To provide, at no cost to the recipient, Assistive Technology and rehabilitative support to persons who need it, but cannot afford it."
Assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment, software or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
A Testamonial
Unless a person has been in the shoes of someone who has a handicapped loved one, they have no idea what a foundation such as this one can mean. While few persons who are handicapped have the resources to finance equipment that is needed to make life a little easier, many do not... MORE

The children are:

1. Girl. 2 years old. Accidental brain injury. Injury prevents her from standing and walking so her bones are not growing correctly.

2. Boy 2 years old born very premature. Had brain bleeds, lung issues and severe stomach issues.  He can push with his legs but not support his weight.

The children need adaptive equipment pictured here:

Initiatives under this banner are designed to help individuals with spinal chord injuries to be mobile or to perform such basic tasks as talking on the phone, turning on the lights, or adjusting and changing channels on a TV set. In the past, we have partnered with many innovative technology firms to provide these much needed devices. The costs of living with paralysis are considerable, especially when spinal chord injuries are involved. Insurance and government plans can help, but many among us still run short when it comes to acquiring even the basics of common care.  In our latest completed project, we partnered with MC Mobility Systems to provide an automated chair lift apparatus for a van for a disabled person and his family in Kentucky. Our current project is to provide mobility solutions for two local young children in need. (Click here to read more…)

In 2015, 91% of our foundation's operating expenses were used for programs that benefit CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES IN NEED.
Our Donors are concerned about the ever-growing problem of drug and alcohol addiction that is sweeping our nation. We have joined hands with the Caron Treatment Centers, www.caron.org, one of the nation’s most highly regarded not-for-profit treatment organizations, as the exclusive recovery resource for the Blake’s Star Program. The selection was made based on the internationally recognized expertise at Caron for family-oriented treatment, and programs which address the whole person (bio-psycho-social-spiritual) with respect to themselves, their families, and their communities. Caron will also be matching the $50,000 start-up round of funding with $50,000 of in-kind for treatment services. Coordinating this effort will be E.N. (Chip) Burson, a long-time supporter and Executive Advisor for our foundation. (Click here to read more…)
